Apple is hiring a senior-level Tools and Automation Engineer to anchor its Maps Production Operations team in Hyderabad. Serving as a crucial technical bridge between operational cartographers and downstream software engineering squads, this role focuses on building, automating, and safeguarding the complex rendering systems and display pipelines used in global map-making. You will manage and mentor a mid-sized contractor team of testers and specialists, translate operational workflows into concrete programmatic logic, run full-lifecycle API and client testing, and lead root-cause troubleshooting. The position offers an autonomous runway to leverage geospatial data pipelines and champion emerging generative AI, machine learning, and MLOps integrations to optimize global production stability.

Requirements:

• 6 to 9 years of professional software development experience showcasing robust, hands-on capabilities in building maintainable, enterprise-scale codebases.
• Deep, multi-language coding familiarity across Python, Scala, and Java to manage and refactor underlying data framework modules.
• Proven ability to define technical roadmaps around test automation architecture, end-to-end framework designs, and industry quality enforcement standards.
• Extensive practical experience running automated validation blocks across consumer-facing client applications, interface APIs, and heavy distributed backend services.
• Particular expertise designing and optimizing automated validation scripts tailored specifically for display rendering components and vector/raster image layouts.
• Strong technical understanding of mapping, routing navigation, or coordinate geospatial structures, combined with hands-on experience using GIS workbench systems like QGIS or FME.
• Direct experience supervising, reviewing, and scaling the output of mid-sized contractor teams containing diverse engineering specialties.
• Prior engineering experience within the field of MLOps alongside a forward-thinking knack for introducing generative AI or autonomous modeling tools into legacy workflow streams.
• High capacity to run triage autonomously inside a fast-paced production office and provide strategic input during rapid iteration deployment cycles.
